Presentation
Training generalist engineers for careers in the agri-food and bioengineering sectors (biotechnologies, cosmetics, nutri-health). Graduates of the GBA specialization are able to carry out assignments involving the production of food and biological products, the development of innovative products or processes, and the optimization and reliability of processes used in these sectors, while respecting regulations and the environment. They are sensitive to sustainable development issues and able to adapt to different corporate cultures.
Know-how and skills
On graduating, the GBA :
- a solid grounding in biology, biochemistry, physical chemistry, nutrition, biological engineering and process engineering;
- has a good knowledge of bioprocesses and food technologies related to the design and sanitary, organoleptic and nutritional quality of food and biological matrices;
- is capable of managing the technical, human and economic aspects of a project in the field of biological and food products and processes, and of proposing optimizations and innovations in compliance with regulations and a sustainable development approach.

Program
The GBA program is organized into six semesters over three years (3A, 4A and 5A), as shown in the diagram below. Each semester is made up of 4 teaching units (UE), and each UE is then broken down into sub-units (ECUE), the details of which are presented in the full teaching program.
- GBA3: semester S5 is dedicated to harmonizing the knowledge levels of student-engineers, taking into account the diversity of backgrounds prior to their integration into the GBA program; semester S6 is dedicated to deepening the field of scientific knowledge specific to bioengineering and agrifood.
- GBA4: Both semesters (S7 and S8) are devoted to core courses in biological engineering and food processing.
- GBA5: the school offers three career paths geared to the professions targeted by the program: Technological Innovation and Industrial Optimization (ITOI), Quality Safety Environment (QSE) and Production Management (PROD). This5th year can be completed on a sandwich course (contrat de professionnalisation). Depending on the student's career plans, the5th year can be spent at a university abroad, in one of the POLYTECH network's Biological and Food Engineering specialties, in a Master 2 in Bioproductions (Master 2 IBIS) at the University of Montpellier (2 places/year), or in the TropiFONS specialization at the ESIROI engineering school (La Réunion) (2 places/year).
