Presentation
Training of generalist engineers for jobs in the agri-food and bioengineering sectors (biotechnologies, cosmetics, nutri-health). Graduates of the GBA specialization are capable of carrying out missions consisting of ensuring the production of food and biological products, developing innovative products or processes, and optimizing and making reliable the processes implemented in these sectors in compliance with regulations and the environment. They are aware of sustainable development and are able to adapt to different corporate cultures.
Know-how and skills
Upon graduation, the GBA student-engineer :
- acquired a solid foundation in biology, biochemistry, physical chemistry, nutrition, biological engineering and process engineering;
- Has a good knowledge of bioprocesses and food technologies related to the design and sanitary, organoleptic and nutritional quality of food and biological matrices;
- is able to manage the technical, human and economic aspects of a project in the field of biological and food products and processes, and to propose optimizations and innovations in compliance with regulations and in a sustainable development approach.

Program
The GBA program is organized in six semesters spread over three years (3A, 4A and 5A) as shown in the diagram below. Each semester is composed of 4 teaching units (UE) and each UE is then broken down into sub-units (ECUE), the details of which are presented in the complete teaching program.
- GBA3: semester S5 is dedicated to the harmonization of the knowledge levels of the student-engineers, taking into account the diversity of their backgrounds before their integration into the GBA program; semester S6 is dedicated to the deepening of the field of scientific knowledge specific to biological engineering and agri-food.
- GBA4: the two semesters (S7 and S8) are devoted to the core courses in biological engineering and agri-food.
- GBA5: three courses oriented towards the professions targeted by the training are offered within the school: Technological Innovation and Industrial Optimization (ITOI), Quality Safety Environment (QSE) and Production Management (PROD). This5th year can be done in alternation (professionalization contract). Depending on the professional project, the5th year can be done in a university abroad, in a speciality of the Biological and Food Engineering field of the POLYTECH network, in a Master 2 in Bioproductions (Master 2 IBIS) of the University of Montpellier (2 places/year), in the TropiFONS major of the ESIROI engineering school (Reunion Island) (2 places/year)
