Presentation
Please note: The content of this course is given as an indication (2020-2021 basis); courses will be subject to change for the 2021-2022 academic year.
The Biological and Agrifood Engineering specialization (GBA, formerly STIA) trains generalist engineers (bac+5) for careers in agrifood and biotechnology, with an awareness of sustainable development and the ability to adapt to different corporate cultures.
Training benefits
ALL THE SCHOOL'S COURSES ARE SUPPORTED BY A NETWORK OF SOLID PARTNERSHIPS WITH :
- the industrial world (800 internships, 200 industrial projects and 50 apprenticeship contracts per year),
- academic research (14 associated research laboratories),
- International (over 100 partner universities worldwide).
Professionals from the food and organic sectors play an important role in GBA training:
- they contribute to updating programs,
- they give courses and lectures,
- they take part in seminars and round-table discussions organized by the school,
- They are also involved in monitoring student-engineers' internships and industrial projects.
The school is an associate member of the Terralia and Qualiméditerranée competitiveness clusters. It has also signed an agreement with LRIA and Ecotrophélia France.
Know-how and skills
On graduating, the GBA :
- Has acquired a solid grounding in biology, biochemistry, physical chemistry, nutrition, biological engineering and process engineering;
- Has a good knowledge of bioprocesses and food technologies related to the design and sanitary, organoleptic and nutritional quality of food and biological matrices;
- Is capable of managing the technical, human and economic aspects of a project in the field of biological and food products and processes, and of proposing optimizations and innovations in compliance with regulations and a sustainable development approach.
He is qualified to perform the following functions:
- Research and Development (R&D) Engineer
- Production engineer
- Quality-Safety-Environment (QSE) Engineer
- Sales and technical engineer
- Supply chain engineer
- Marketing engineer
Organization
Internships, tutored projects
Engineering students complete several internships in companies or research laboratories:
- one-month internship at the end of3rd year;
- 2 to 3-month internship at the end of4th year;
- 5-6 month internship at the end of5th year.
In5th year, they carry out an industrial end-of-studies project (300 hours) that places them in a professional situation and enables them to develop their autonomy.
