Objectives

The Master's degree in Mathematics is primarily intended for holders of a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or equivalent training. Holders of a Professional Bachelor's degree cannot directly access this program. Direct admission to the second year is also possible on the basis of an application. It is open to students in the first year of a master's degree program at French or foreign universities with initial training in mathematics, French or foreign engineering schools, or students at the École Normale Supérieure.
This fundamental mathematics program leads mainly to a doctorate in mathematics and to higher education.
The Math-Fonda program has multiple objectives. It aims to respond to the growing interest in high-level research in mathematics and its various applications. Thanks to a solid basic education, students benefit from their first exposure to contemporary mathematical research issues, making the Math-Fonda program the preferred choice for future doctoral students in fundamental and/or applied mathematics.
Our students can enter the professional world directly or first complete this Master's degree with another course, mainly a PhD in mathematics. Students mainly interested in teaching can also prepare for a mathematics teaching qualification.
Career opportunities are vast, and graduates of the Math-Fonda Master's program go on to work in public and private research, higher or secondary education, but are particularly sought after in certain private sectors such as insurance, banking, and fields that use mathematical engineering. The Master's degree also allows access to certain civil service competitive examinations (national and regional).
