Presentation

Objectives

The Master of Mathematics is aimed primarily at holders of a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or equivalent. Holders of a professional bachelor's degree are not eligible for direct access to this program. Direct access to the second year is also possible on application. It is open to M1 students from French or foreign universities with an initial mathematical training, or from French or foreign engineering schools, or to graduates of the Ecole Normale Supérieure.
This fundamental mathematics course leads mainly to a doctorate in mathematics, and to higher education.
The Math-Fonda program has multiple objectives. The aim is to respond to the growing interest in high-level research in mathematics and its various applications. Thanks to a solid basic training, students benefit from a first contact with research problems in contemporary mathematics, and the Math-Fonda pathway therefore represents the preferred choice for future PhD students in fundamental and/or applied mathematics.
Our students can either go straight into the professional world, or complement this Master's degree with another course of study, mainly a doctorate in mathematics. Students who are primarily interested in teaching can also prepare for an agrégation in mathematics.
The range of career opportunities is vast, and graduates of a Master's degree in Math-Fonda go on to work in public and private research, higher or secondary education, for example, but are particularly appreciated in certain private sectors such as insurance, banking and fields using mathematical engineering. The Master's degree is also a prerequisite for admission to certain competitive examinations in the civil service (national and local).
