Presentation
The Sensors, Electronics and Connected Objects (C.E.O) course of the EEA Master's degree is based on a laboratory (IES UMR CNRS 5214) whose skills are recognized, on teacher-researchers in contact with industrial and academic advances, and professionals in the field involved in the training. This course is an evolution of the "Sensors & Associated Systems" (CSA) course, where we have reorganised the courses with more homogeneous blocks and made the necessary adaptations to be in line with current technologies (IOT) for the challenges of tomorrow (Industry 4.0, autonomous vehicle, defence, environment, health, etc.). This course allows us to cover the design of the sensor (microsystem), its characterization, its processing electronics, energy autonomy, wireless communication, and data processing.
The LMD4 success rate is around 90%.

Objectives
The objective of the Sensors, Electronics and Connected Objects (C.E.O.) program is to train students with 5 years' higher education, with an EEA profile and specific skills in sensor physics, precision electronics, instrumentation, wireless communication, embedded systems and data management, enabling them to grasp the challenges and economic stakes of tomorrow's connected objects in a wide range of applications (health, environment, transport, space, defense, consumer goods, precision agriculture, industry 4.0, autonomous vehicles, smart cities....). This training gives direct access to the industrial world, or to academic/industrial research through a doctorate (Bac+8).
Know-how and skills
- Research & Development in sensor development and/or sensor-related electronics, and adapt to technological change.
- Design systems using Sensors and/or Electronics associated with one or more Sensors (networks) and adapt to technological developments.
- wireless communication implementation
- Development and fine-tuning of measurement benches and test procedures, and adaptation to technological developments.
- Technical management of development office teams
- Ability to solve a technological problem, to be autonomous in the search for technological solutions and to take budgetary constraints into account
- Technology watch capabilities
Cross-disciplinary skills
- Autonomy; prioritization; time management; self-evaluation; personal training project
- Project management: objectives, context, implementation, evaluation, cost.
- Study, Analysis Synthesis: formulate a problem; build a scientific argument; interpret results, draw up a synthesis, propose perspectives.
- Multidisciplinary teamwork
Organization
Special features
The program is open to sandwich courses in M1 and M2.
The course is open to a double degree with the IAE (Institut d'Administration des Entreprises).
Program
The C.E.O. pathway of the EEA Master's degree has a two-year (4-semester) pedagogical progression.
The first year of the Master's program consists of two semesters. The first semester is shared by all EEA Master's courses, providing basic theoretical knowledge and cross-disciplinary skills in EEA disciplines. In the second semester, C.E.O. students follow specific UEs. The course also includes English and SHS (Human and Social Sciences) UEs. Students carry out a project that may extend into the first semester, and are required to complete an internship or end-of-study project.
The second year of the Master's program consists of two semesters. The first semester is academic, with both professional and research courses based on the specific features of the research laboratory associated with the Master's program, providing skills in the design and testing of integrated and embedded electronic systems. The second semester is devoted to a final-year project and an industrial or research internship.

Further studies
After the Master 2, students who so wish can take up a doctorate in academia or industry in a field close to their training, which will take them to bac+8 level.
Studying abroad
After the Master 2, students who so wish can take up a doctorate in an academic or industrial environment abroad, in a field close to their training, which will take them to bac+8 level.
Bridges and reorientation
Students holding a Master 1 or Master 2 degree in EEA or applied physics may apply for a Master 2 degree. Admission is subject to the course's pedagogical selection committee.
A Master 1 student can be redirected to another course with the agreement of the course manager or another national course.
