Presentation

The Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB) pathway in the Life Sciences bachelor's degree is a scientific undergraduate program providing a broad vision of the life sciences, with a particular focus on the inner workings of the eukaryotic cell. The transition to specialization is gradual over the three years of the course.

Open Health Access course (L.AS).

Objectives

The main aim of the BMC pathway is to provide a broad knowledge base in the life sciences, with more in-depth knowledge in molecular genetics and cell biology. The knowledge acquired should enable students to enter disciplinary Master's courses in Montpellier or elsewhere.

The course also aims to develop students' analytical, synthetic and critical skills, as well as enabling them to enter the world of scientific research in molecular and cellular biology at the end of their degree.

Organization

Program

The first year is common to all Life Sciences degree courses, and enables students to acquire key concepts in biology, as well as the chemistry, physics, calculus and English needed to understand biology.

From the second year onwards, specialization in molecular and cellular biology is progressive.

The third year is largely devoted to specialization.

Further studies

Although there may be opportunities for professional integration after completing this course, the majority of students go on to study for a Master's degree. Several courses in the Biology-Health and Biology-Agrosciences masters programs accept students from the BMC course.

Several students from the BMC program go on to other Masters programs in France and abroad.

It is also possible to enter an engineering school from this course.

Studying abroad

Students can take part in an ERASMUS program abroad.

It is also possible to pursue studies in international Masters programs.

Bridges and reorientation

Reorientation, with a change of course, following L2 is possible, but subject to the agreement of the head of the course concerned. Reorientation may require a return to L2 of the targeted course.
