Presentation

The Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCC) program of the Life Sciences degree is an undergraduate scientific program giving a broad vision of the life sciences and especially of the intimate functioning of the eukaryotic cell. The passage towards specialization is progressive during the three years of the course.

Open course in Health Access (L.AS).

Objectives

The main objective of the BMC program is to provide a broad knowledge base in the life sciences with more in-depth knowledge in molecular genetics and cell biology. The knowledge acquired should allow the student to integrate disciplinary Master courses in Montpellier or elsewhere.

The teaching of this course also aims to develop the analytical, synthetic and critical spirit of the students as well as to approach, at the end of the degree, the world of scientific research in molecular and cellular biology.

Organization

Program

The first year is common to the Life Sciences degree courses and allows students to acquire key notions in biology as well as elements of chemistry, physics, calculus and English necessary to understand biology.

From the second year on, specialization in molecular and cellular biology is progressive.

The third year is largely devoted to specialization.

Further studies

Although there may be opportunities for professional integration after this course, the majority of students continue their studies in a Master's degree. Several courses in the Biology-Health and Biology-Agrosciences masters accept students from the BMC course.

Several students from the BMC program go on to other Masters programs throughout France and abroad.

It is also possible to enter an engineering school from this course.

Continuing your studies abroad

The possibility is offered to follow part of the training abroad within the framework of the ERASMUS program.

It is also possible to pursue studies in international "Masters programs".

Bridges and reorientation

Reorientations, with a change of course, following the L2 are possible, but subject to the agreement of the head of the course concerned. The reorientation could require a return to L2 of the targeted course.
