L2 - Physics

The Bachelor's degree in Physics is a three-year program that constitutes the first stage of higher education. It is open to students with a high school diploma in science and allows them to acquire fundamental knowledge in general, theoretical, and experimental physics, ranging from classical physics to modern physics, as well as in mathematics and computer programming, with a progressive specialization in the third year in Fundamental Physics or Physics and its Applications. The CUPGE Physics and Mathematics program (University Preparatory Cycle for Grandes Écoles) from L1 to L3 offers in-depth training in two disciplines. A brief presentation of the different paths available in the Bachelor's Degree in Physics can be downloaded here: Presentation of the Bachelor's Degree in Physics.

Open course in Health Access (L.AS).

Admission

Admission requirements

Admission to the second year is open to applicants who have earned 60 credits toward a bachelor's degree or who have obtained a degree in a related field. For example, CPGE specializations in MPSI, PCSI, PTSI, or DUT in Physical Measurements, PASS with a minor in Science, etc. Students with other degrees may also apply. Their applications will be reviewed by the admissions committee.

Finally, certain UM students who are changing course are entitled to access the second year of the Physics program, provided they have validated the 60 ECTS credits for the first year (e.g., CPGE, PASS).

Career opportunities for students with a Bachelor's degree in Physics

The Bachelor's degree in Physics is a program that aims to provide students with a mastery of fundamental knowledge ranging from classical physics to modern physics. It is based on both a theoretical and experimental approach, offering progressive specialization through two tracks: Fundamental Physics and Physics and Applications in the third year. It also allows students to enter engineering schools at the end of the second or third year.

The primary purpose of the program is to enable students to pursue a Master's degree in Physics in France or abroad. The Master's program in Fundamental Physics and Applications offers eight tracks covering many fields of physics and its interfaces, in particular the track in Physics of Living Matter , which targets career opportunities in fundamental research, the diagnostic and biomedical industry, imaging platforms, and biotechnology.

It is also possible to integrate the Biomedical Physics (PhyMed) program of the Master's in Science and Digital Technology for Health, which is a transdisciplinary program in Science and Health. Career opportunities are mainly in technology companies, IT consulting and service companies, and healthcare organizations. A presentation of this program can be downloaded here.
