Description
Putting into practice in the field the knowledge acquired in the analysis of sedimentary basins by a multi-disciplinary and multi-scale approach combining sedimentology and tectonics. This work is done by integrating field observations and sub-surface data in the case of a forechain basin.
Objectives
Deepening skills in field analysis methods:
- Field description and interpretation of geological objects at all scales (rocks, outcrops, landscapes),
- Establishment of sedimentological logs,
- Establishment of synthetic structural sections,
- Synthetic analysis of a pre-chain basin,
- Writing a field report.
Necessary prerequisites
- Sedimentology,
- Tectonics,
- Seismic profile interpretation,
- Basin geology concepts (geodynamics, subsidence, accommodation...).
Knowledge control
Continuous assessment:
- Bibliographical analysis presentation,
- Preparatory work on geological map,
- Final report,
- Oral examination.
