Description

Field application of the knowledge acquired in the analysis of sedimentary basins by a multi-disciplinary and multi-scale approach combining sedimentology and tectonics. This work is done by integrating field observations and subsurface data in the case of a pre-chain basin.

Deepening of skills in field analysis methods:
- Field description and interpretation of geological objects at all scales (rocks, outcrops, landscapes),
- Establishment of a sedimentological log,
- Establishment of a synthetic structural section,
- Synthetic analysis of a pre-chain basin,
- Writing of a field report

Necessary pre-requisites

- Sedimentology,
- Tectonics,
- Seismic profile interpretation,
- Basin geology concepts (geodynamics, subsidence, accommodation...).

Knowledge control

Continuous assessment:
- Presentation of bibliographical analysis,
- Preparation work on geological map,
- Final report,
- Oral exam.
