Description
Field application of knowledge acquired in the analysis of sedimentary basins using a multidisciplinary and multiscale approach combining sedimentology and tectonics. This work is carried out by integrating field observations and subsurface data in the case of a foreland basin.
Objectives
Advanced training in field analysis methods:
- Description and interpretation in the field of geological objects at all scales (rocks, outcrops, landscapes),
- Creation of sedimentological logs,
- Creation of synthetic structural cross-sections,
- Synthetic analysis of a foreland basin,
- Writing a field report.
Mandatory prerequisites
- Sedimentology,
- Tectonics,
- Seismic profile interpretation,
- Basin geology concepts (geodynamics, subsidence, accommodation, etc.).
Knowledge assessment
Continuous assessment:
- Presentation of bibliographic analysis,
- Preparatory work carried out on geological map,
- Final report,
- Oral exam.
