Description
The main points covered were the concept of sea level, the sedimentary recording of sea level variations, the notion of deposition sequences, the origin of sequences, sequence recognition and fields of application (basin/reservoir architecture, reservoir prediction).
Objectives
- Seismic, outcrop and well data (including logs) identification of sedimentary suites and depositional sequences at different scales (seismic and genetic sequences, parasequences).
- Identification of different sedimentary discontinuities (maximum flooding surface, unconformity, transgression surf, maximum regression surface, etc. (from rocks, seismic, logs).
- Acquisition of log correlation techniques in genetic stratigraphy (stacking pattern).
Necessary prerequisites
Knowledge of facies sedimentology (identification of sedimentary processes and sedimentation environments).
Basic knowledge of the meaning of a seismic reflection profile.
Knowledge control
Full continuous assessment.
