Description
Key points covered: the concept of sea level, sedimentary records of sea level variations, the notion of deposit sequences, the origin of sequences, sequence recognition, and areas of application (basin/reservoir architecture, reservoir prediction).
Objectives
- Identification in seismic data, outcrops, and well data (including logs) of sedimentary sequences and deposit sequences at different scales (seismic sequences and genetic sequences, paraséquences).
- Identification of various sedimentary discontinuities (maximum flooding surface, unconformity, transgression surface, maximum regression surface, etc. (based on rocks, seismic data, well logs).
- Acquisition of well log correlation techniques in genetic stratigraphy (stacking pattern).
Mandatory prerequisites
Knowledge of facies sedimentology (identification of sedimentary processes and sedimentary environments).
Basic knowledge of the significance of a seismic reflection profile.
Knowledge assessment
Continuous assessment.
