Description
This is a cross-cutting EU initiative that draws on a variety of tools and knowledge:
- in the form of a workshop,
- over a long period during the second year of the master's program: a single project organized into two complementary phases (Interdisciplinary Project 1 and Interdisciplinary Project 2) with common educational and skill acquisition objectives.
It allows students to carry out an interdisciplinary project in its entirety, in the form of an interdisciplinary study relating to socio-political, economic, environmental, and health issues, hydrological or hydraulic modeling, risk management, etc.
Objectives
- Develop cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary skills related to the project's themes. Develop expertise in these themes.
- Mobilize and implement acquired skills and previous professional experience to respond to an operational and/or scientific request.
- Analyze the issues at stake, explore them in depth, and propose courses of action.
- Report the results obtained accurately and in a well-argued manner.
- Become self-sufficient in terms of project management and execution.
Mandatory prerequisites
Basic knowledge of water-related issues.
Knowledge assessment
Oral defense and submission of a written report.
Syllabus
This EU takes place as follows:
- Definition of interdisciplinary study topics with external partners and sponsors (operational, scientific, etc.) or within the teaching team in connection with ongoing projects.
- Formation of project groups, definition of objectives, methods, and organization by group
- Conducting the study
- data collection, context analysis, establishing contacts
- alternating between collective, small group, and individual work phases
- supervised and independent work sessions
- methodological contributions according to needs
- regular deliverables throughout the fiscal year.
- Study presentation phase: oral defense before a jury and scientific and technical report presenting elements of response to the commission.
