Description
The course is structured around case studies focusing on the Gironde and Nouvelle-Aquitaine regions. It develops, in turn, the appropriation of water as part of regional planning for drinking water, wastewater treatment, flooding and aquatic environments, including wetlands. It also addresses the positioning of the network of players in the water and urban planning sectors, while providing an opportunity to discover professions related to these two themes. It is the subject of numerous exchanges and interactions between the teacher and the students, with a view to awakening their critical sense with regard to practical, real-life professional cases.

Mandatory prerequisites
Knowledge of the water sector being acquired by students from the social sciences.
Knowledge control
A 3-hour assessment, comprising a reflective part based on a video and a part based on a course presentation with reasoned answers, all of which will be the subject of an in-depth, personalized answer sheet.

It also addresses the positioning of the network of players involved in water and urban planning, while providing an opportunity to discover professions related to these two themes. It is the subject of numerous exchanges and interactions between the teacher and the students, with a view to awakening their critical sense with regard to practical, real-life professional cases.
Target skills
Knowledge transfer (Gironde case study), concerning: water legislation, irrigation engineering, evaluation and performance of water management systems, economic evaluation of public policies, management tools for economic regulation, financial management of development projects, water governance systems, environmental impact study methods, groundwater management.
Know-How:
Bringing concrete experience to bear and conveying the situational viewpoint of a territorial engineer through case studies, in order to carry out, on the theme of water: territorial analysis and forecasting; territorial design actions (production with mastery of procedures, coordination, notably budgetary, and steering (elected representatives' relations) of territorial and urban projects); animation of territorial and urban projects (human resources management).
Skills:
Learn how to design a project, while taking into account the heritage nature of water, and gain an understanding of the professions of a territorial engineer, who can be positioned in the following positions: study manager / project manager / environmental consultant / engineer, watershed coordinator, SAGE, regional or national park coordinator.
