Overview
This program is designed for careers in vocational high schools and is based on teaching two subjects within general education disciplines (literature and history, or geography; Spanish and literature; or English and literature). The primary focus is on careers as vocational high school teachers. In addition, there are careers where knowledge of the conditions and practices of vocational education is required or can serve as a foundation for further professional development, such as adult education
(particularly in languages and literature). The versatility of the program allows for career changes based on the general education acquired through the program.

Expertise and Skills
This specialization incorporates elements of general knowledge, understanding of the education system, and analysis of professional situations—as covered in course units addressing the reference framework—and adapts them to learning specifically related to the professions for which students are preparing. The program is demanding in terms of the two disciplines that make up the dual specialization. Students prepare for three competitive exams of their choice during the master’s program:

Program
This program is characterized by educational approaches that differ from those of general high schools. Its connection to the professional world, the background of its students, and the high proportion of students with non-traditional educational paths in these fields give it a unique identity.
The master’s program is currently offered as an on-campus program at the FDE, and a hybrid distance learning program (FADH) is under consideration for the 2021–2022 academic year. This program will allow working students and/or those seeking to transition into teaching to benefit from distance learning supplemented by a few in-person sessions at the Faculty of Education.

M1: Teacher at Vocational High Schools
The Master 1 program prepares students for the various CAPLP certifications, for the validation of specific subject-area and cross-disciplinary coursework, and also includes a 4-week internship at a public school.
M2: Teacher at Vocational High Schools
The Master 2 program is designed to build on the knowledge gained in the first year

Hold a bachelor's degree or a degree equivalent to three years of post-secondary education.

Target Audience
All students who hold a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent or higher degree in at least one of the specializations within the relevant program.
Enrollment is approved by the admissions committee after reviewing the application (detailed resume, transcripts, and cover letter).
