Syllabus

Course: Retrosynthesis; multi-step syntheses; stereocontrolled syntheses; protective groups; literature review.

Practical work: The multi-step syntheses studied in practical work will be based on the theoretical understanding of the reactions carried out as well as on the appropriate treatments to be performed. Time management, planning of experiments, organization of experimental synthesis techniques (extraction, distillation, recrystallization, chromatography) and characterization methods of the organic compounds obtained will be necessary to carry out these syntheses. The skills acquired by the students during these lab sessions are:

  • Implement an experimental protocol in French or English while respecting good laboratory practices.
  • Work independently and with others.
  • Analyze and interpret the results obtained.
  • To write a report describing the operating modes carried out, the characterizations of the products obtained and the analyses of the latter.
  • Present the work done.
