Description

The teaching of the module on strategies and tools in organic synthesis focuses on deepening students' understanding of strategies for developing molecules, whether derived from the natural environment or not, using the tools of organic chemistry.

Syllabus

Course: Inductive (problem-based) and deductive teaching methods. Materials available on the digital workspace (Moodle): Course documents, tutorial documents, past exam papers, and reference publications.

 

  1. Review of the fundamentals of retro-synthesis/protective groups/regio- and chemo-selectivity: (3 hours)
  2. Ionic and radical approaches in bond formation (3 hours)
  3. Cyclization reactions (Baldwin's rules, Thorpe-Ingold effect, etc.) (3 hours)
  4. Multi-component reaction (3 hours)
  5. Applications in biomolecule synthesis (3 hours)

 

 

TD (5 hours): Individual work, exercises to be prepared before and during the session. Case studies.
