Description
In bioprocess engineering, knowledge of the metabolism of catalysts (cells, microorganisms) is essential. This course will focus on describing the diversity of microbial metabolites (primary and secondary metabolites) and the bioprocesses that use these microorganisms to produce these molecules.
This course includes interactive lectures, tutorials and practical exercises (practical work in the computer room + personal project work in small groups).
Objectives
At the end of this course, students will have acquired the technical and theoretical aspects of adding value to products of microbial origin. They will know how to use tools to discover new molecules that can be valorized.
Teaching hours
- Bioprocess engineering - Metabolism and bioproduction - CMLecture18h
- Bioprocess engineering - Metabolism and bioproduction - TDTutorial3h
- Bioprocess engineering - Metabolism and bioproduction - Practical workPractical work6h
Necessary prerequisites
Theoretical and technical knowledge of microbiology, biotechnology and biochemistry (L3 biology degree or equivalent)
Recommended prerequisites :
Knowledge of chemistry and ecology
In addition, the implementation in bioreactors of these microbial catalysts for the production of metabolites of interest will be covered in the complementary EU HAV811V "Bioprocess Engineering -Batch".
Knowledge control
Assessment is by continuous assessment (CCI). The UE grade takes into account the marks obtained in the oral and practical parts of the test, as well as the mark obtained in the final test.
