Description
The "Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the Cell 2" course complements the "Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the Cell 1" course, which takes place in parallel. In this course, students will put into practice and deepen the theoretical knowledge acquired in "Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the Cell 1".
Objectives
Knowledge :
- Understand the general functioning of the cell cycle (mitosis and meiosis will be covered)
- Study of the consequences of cycle disruption (cancers, etc.)
Know-how :
- Mobilize skills acquired in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry and microbiology to address a specific problem or analyze experimental data (including micrographs).
- How to use a photonic microscope
- Follow an experimental protocol
- Perform a simple cyto/histological preparation
- Apply specific stains to observe organelles under light microscopy
- Using the squash technique to observe eukaryotic cells dividing
- Represent a microscopic observation in the form of a captioned drawing, respecting the size proportions of the various cellular elements.
- Scale a drawing or micrograph
- Write a report on the practical work (including objective, protocol, captioned drawings, comments and conclusion).
- Synthesize knowledge for use in writing
-People skills :
- Work independently or as part of a team
- Write a report within a given timeframe
- Comply with health and safety rules in a practical room
Necessary prerequisites
- S1 UE "From molecules to cells
- S2 UE "Biochemistry and molecular biology of the cell 1".
