Description
Mineral deposits, exploration techniques, geostatistics, mining economics. The training is mainly based on presentations by professionals (mine and quarry). Two field days illustrate certain exploration methods, notably through the study of uranium and gypsum mineralization.
Objectives
To raise awareness of the exploration and mining professions. Understand the issues related to the extraction of metals (U, Ni, Mn, rare earths, etc.). Non-concessible resources: from exploration to production (visit of a quarry in operation).
Acquire skills concerning 1) exploration strategies and techniques, 2) conditions and methods of quarrying; 3) economic and societal issues related to the exploitation of a resource.
Necessary pre-requisites
HAT808T - Mineral lodges.
