ER Work-Study Program

This course unit involves the completion of a synthesis project on an issue relevant to the organization where the work-study program takes place (new techniques, new processes, new markets, etc.). Once the issue has been identified and formalized based on a rigorous review of the current state of the art, students are expected to carry out a phase of planning and implementation of the project, as well as a phase of analyzing the results to specify how they can be applied, particularly within the host organization.

The objective of this teaching unit is twofold, namely

1) Identify areas where the host organization could establish a presence, whether in new markets, new processes, or technological or regulatory niches, and

2) carry out a project independently and in collaboration with the supervisor at the host organization.

The work will be presented in the form of a report and an oral presentation describing the topic and rationale for the project, along with the associated challenges for both the host organization and the work-study student (including any connection to the student’s career goals).
