Description

This module presents the basics of optical and radar remote sensing with the basics of image processing (consultation of image catalogs on the Internet, image downloading, import/export, visualization, contrast enhancement, radiometric and geometric image corrections, segmentation, vectorization, classification ...). In addition, this module presents applications related to water management.

Objectives

This module aims to provide students of the Master Water, Water and Agriculture specialization, with the basics of remote sensing with practical work on applications for hydrology and water resources management. The techniques and principles of optical and radar remote sensing will be presented. For optical and radar images, frequently used in Geographic Information Systems, pre-processing methods (geometric and radiometric corrections) will be discussed. Finally, these different types of remote sensing data will also be presented by illustrating their interest for some fields of application in hydrology and used to build spatialized indicators.
