Presentation
A course designed to train experimentalists/behavioral scientists capable of managing an experimental project from its conception to its practical implementation, whether in the laboratory or in the field.
Students will be involved in experimental projects and will be encouraged to carry out their own projects. The training is both theoretical and practical.
Objectives
The main objective of the program is to train experts in conducting surveys and laboratory and field experiments in the humanities and social sciences, by teaching students various data collection techniques, particularly experimental data collection in laboratories and field laboratories.
Know-how and skills
Students learn to design and program experiments, conduct them, and analyze the data to put it into perspective in relation to existing knowledge.
Particular attention is paid to public decision-making support. Students will learn how to test the effectiveness of various public policy instruments and measures in laboratory or field experiments, analyze the data from these experiments, and propose a behavioral model for understanding and extrapolating the effects of these policies (through questions of decision-making, mental and social representations, etc.). Mastering and strengthening the effectiveness of public policies requires rigorous and accurate evaluation at every stage of the decision-making process and public action, as well as an understanding of how these policies interact with the behaviors and decisions of individuals and/or groups of individuals.
Organization
Knowledge assessment
The combination of two subject areas requires intensive refresher courses at the start of the M1 program for economists (psychology courses) and psychologists (economics courses). The courses are then mainly taught by faculty members from the UM's Economics Department and the UPVM3's Social Sciences Department. The involvement of both universities and both disciplines justifies a specific organizational structure.
