College of Sciences
Description
Acquire the theoretical and practical fundamentals in the field of sensors (vocabulary, definitions, construction, implementation, instrumentation), as well as capacitive, inductive, and resistive measurement. These measurement techniques will be applied to temperature, humidity, strain, and displacement sensors. In addition, signal conditioning electronics and the measurement chain will be covered, with a particular focus on wireless transmission using technologies found in connected devices (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, BLE, Zigbee, LoRa, RFID).
Objectives
To give students an understanding of what lies behind a connected device, which consists of a sensor component, an electronics component (signal conditioning and instrumentation), and finally a connectivity/wireless transmission component. Hands-on project-based assignments will provide students with the opportunity to become familiar with the techniques discussed.
1/ Part 1: Sensors / Signal Conditioning Electronics / Instrumentation Chain
2/ Part 2: Sensors and Applications: Temperature, Humidity, Strain, Displacement
3/ Part 3: Wireless Transmission of Sensor Data
