However, the programs retain a common core curriculum in scientific subjects, methodological subjects (languages, computer science), and sports specializations. All these programs are available as continuing education courses.

Bachelor's degree in Sports Science, specializing in Education and Motor Skills (EM)

The EM program trains professionals in teaching, sports coaching and, more broadly, educational intervention in the field of physical, sporting and artistic activities. More specifically, it prepares students to design and supervise training activities in the fields of physical education and sports (EPS), sports, and education for health and citizenship.

Students in the EM program are thus destined to work with a diverse range of audiences as physical education teachers, sports managers or coaches, and project leaders. This work takes place not only in the privileged environment of schools, but also within various educational and sports institutions run by the state, local authorities, and the private sector (sports federations, associations, health education organizations, companies).

Continuing your studies is one of the STAPS Master's degrees offered at UM1.

Due to limited capacity for this program, applications from high school graduates from the Montpellier Academy and those from high school students preparing for the French baccalaureate abroad will be given priority.

Mandatory prerequisites

For several years now, we have noticed a significant increase in the number of applicants wishing to join the UFR STAPS. We constantly reiterate that the most important thing is not to get into the UFR STAPS, but to graduate with a degree. Too many students fail in their studies because they do not understand the true nature of the courses offered at our UFR, which is often mistakenly considered to be a sports training center.

Enrolling in STAPS only makes sense if you have a solid career plan and the skills and motivation necessary to pursue university studies until you obtain your bachelor's degree. STAPS studies are undoubtedly exciting and varied, but they are certainly not easy. We do everything we can to help students who are struggling and to diversify our teaching methods and training programs. Over the past four years, we have been able to increase the success rate by more than 15 points.
