The objective of the Sports Management degree is to train professionals in the management and organization of physical and sports activities for all types of public (children, adolescents, adults, the elderly, and even the disabled) and in the various sectors of activity related to sports, among which three are more particularly targeted: associative sports organizations (sports federations, leagues, clubs), public and private sports management organizations, and event management.

Bachelor's degree in STAPS with a major in education and motor skills (EM)

The EM specialization trains professionals in teaching, sports activities and, more broadly, in educational intervention in the field of physical, sports and artistic activities. More specifically, it prepares students to design and supervise training activities in the fields of physical and sports education (PSE), sports and education for health and citizenship.

Students in the EM program are thus destined to work with a wide variety of people as PE teachers, sports managers or instructors, or project managers. This work is done not only in the school environment, but also within the various educational and sports institutions of the State, local authorities and the private sector (sports federations, associations, health education organizations, companies).

The continuation of study is one of the Masters STAPS offered at the UM1.

Due to the limited capacity of this program, applications from high school graduates from the Montpellier Academy, and from high school students preparing a French baccalaureate abroad, will be given priority.

Whatever the profile of the candidates, the applications must be made on ParcourSup.

Necessary pre-requisites

For a few years now, we have noticed a significant increase in the number of candidates wishing to join the UFR STAPS. We never stop repeating that the main thing is not to enter the UFR STAPS, but to leave with a diploma. Too many students fail in their studies because they have not understood the true nature of the training provided in our UFR, often wrongly considered as a sports training center.

Enrolling in the STAPS program only makes sense if you have a solid professional project, the abilities and the motivation necessary to pursue university studies until you obtain your Bachelor's degree. Studying in STAPS is undoubtedly exciting and varied, but certainly not easy. We do our best to help students in difficulty, to diversify our teaching procedures and our training programs. Over the past four years, we have been able to increase our success rates by more than 15 points.
