Description
- Cell biology: cytoskeleton, membranes and membrane transport, extracellular matrix, organelles, origin of life and organization of viruses, prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.
- Biochemistry: structure of biological macromolecules (nucleic acids, proteins, lipids and sugars), polymer chain definitions, classification and roles of biological polymers (proteins, nucleic acids, polysaccharides), folding and structuring of biological macromolecules, intra- and inter-molecular physicochemical interactions, biosynthesis and stability of macromolecules.
- Integrative and organismal biology: Angiosperm nutrition, animal and plant physiology
- Ecology: introduction to ecology, biogeochemical cycles, paleoecology
