English tutorial for students in the “L3 Bioproduction and Biotechnology for Health” program, designed to help them achieve professional proficiency in English.

Strengthen and consolidate students’ language foundations based on the five language skills described by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), in order to prepare them for a professional environment where English may be used in a variety of ways:

· Interactions in English with foreign colleagues.

· Use of equipment, software, and user manuals in English only.

· Participation in international training sessions, seminars, or conferences.

Specific Objectives:

· Increased practice in oral expression.

· Vocabulary and grammar: basic communication skills for describing and discussing materials and equipment (learning and explaining how to use them); special attention to the use of the passive voice (used to describe materials and methods)

· Technical and specialized vocabulary: consumables (samples, products, etc.) and equipment (machine parts, computer terminology, etc.).

Reading and listening comprehension, basic grammar knowledge, and advanced written and oral communication skills (for example, a CEFR B1 level upon enrollment does not guarantee that a B2 level will be achieved by the end of the course).

Continuous, Comprehensive Assessment – Attendance and active participation in class are required.

· Listening Comprehension – Audiovisual Materials: for example, a video tutorial on how to use equipment.

· Reading comprehension – Based on instruction manuals or articles and journals from the scientific press.

· Oral communication in interactive situations—Interviews and group work: for example, solving a technical problem (during a phone conversation with a technician or technical support representative)

· Written Communication – Writing instructions, protocols, and descriptions of technical procedures.

· Oral presentation in individual presentations: presentation of an experiment or a piece of equipment.
