Preparation for Competitive Exam Interviews

This course is intended for second-year Life Sciences students preparing for the “B” entrance exam for national schools of agronomy and veterinary medicine (Agro-Veto Prep Track). This exam includes a 30-minute oral interview with the panel, which accounts for half of the admission score. This portion of the exam is similar to a job interview, during which the student must convince the panel of the maturity of their career plan and the coherence of their academic path in achieving that goal.

The objective of this course unit is to prepare students for this type of job interview (in terms of both content and format) by guiding their thinking and work on

- their career plans, on the one hand, and their education, skills, and aspirations, on the other, as well as the consistency between these two aspects

- conveying this message in writing through a well-crafted resume

- a clear, concise, and well-organized oral presentation of this argument (first part of the interview)

- answering the jury's questions

- gain a realistic and in-depth understanding of the careers that align with one’s professional goals

- to research these careers in a reliable and thoughtful manner

- assess the alignment between one's aspirations, skills, and the characteristics of the target careers

- write a resume for a recruiter

- introduce yourself, present your career goals, and defend them during a job interview
