Description
This compulsory course will enable students to deepen the skills they acquired in "Biochemistry S3." It will enable them to understand cellular metabolism by:
-understanding bioenergetics in order to study the processes by which living cells convey, transmit, use, accumulate, and release energy;
-the study of catabolism and anabolism of carbohydrates, lipids, nucleotides, amino acids, and the metabolic interactions between these pathways.
- the description of metabolic disorders.
Objectives
-Knowledge:
Master the laws of thermodynamics and oxidation-reduction;
Delve deeper into carbohydrate metabolism, including gluconeogenesis, the pentose phosphate pathway, glycogen, and oxidative phosphorylation.
Understand the anabolism and catabolism of nucleotides, amino acids, and lipids;
Understanding the regulatory mechanisms of each metabolic pathway, the links and coordination between them;
Objective of this EU: to create a metabolic map.
-Interpersonal skills:
Being able to understand the lessons;
Knowing how to organize oneself, knowing how to work independently, performing consistently even in the absence of supervision;
Be motivated;
Be able to make the connection between the teachings of enzymology/metabolism and the teachings of physiology and cellular/molecular biology;
Be able to summarize.
