Description

This teaching unit introduces students to project management, taking into account the major challenges facing business performance. Students find themselves in a position where they are steering the key phases of the product design process.

This project-based teaching approach allows for a detailed analysis of each phase of the design process in the form of case studies. Students therefore learn methods for generating ideas (creativity, functional analysis) through to the creation of the product architecture.

Objectives

  • Draft initial specifications (innovative project)

  • Write functional specifications (functional analysis, characterization of functions)

  • Write functional product specifications (FAST and proposed solutions in principle)

  • Conduct a study of the chosen solution

  • Write a simple calculation note

  • Produce the technical documents necessary for manufacturing the functional prototype (limited here to 3D printing).

  • Qualify the functional prototype, produced using 3D printing, by verifying the criteria and levels of function characterization.

  • Conduct a project review in the presence of the project leader

This project-based teaching approach allows for a detailed analysis of each phase of the design process in the form of case studies. Students therefore learn methods for generating ideas (creativity, functional analysis) through to the creation of the product architecture.

Students must:

  • Write functional specifications (functional analysis, characterization of functions)

  • Write functional product specifications (FAST and proposed solutions in principle)

  • Conduct a study of the chosen solution

  • Write a simple calculation note
