Description

From a theoretical perspective, the notions and concepts covered will address the following topics:

  • Database design: extension of the E/A model and UML.

  • Functional dependencies and normalization (transitive closure, coverage)

    minimal, multivalued dependencies, Chase algorithm, different forms

    normal, etc.).

  • SQL add-ons: data manipulation language (complex queries),

    data definition language, data control language

  • Transactions

  • Procedural language

  • Trigger

  • Indexing and optimization

    From a practical standpoint, the database management system used during the course will be Oracle. Other systems such as MySQL or Postgres may be used as part of the project.
