From a theoretical perspective, the topics and concepts covered will address the following themes:

• Database Design: Extending the E/A and UML Models.

• Functional dependencies and normalization (transitive closure, coverage

  minimal, multivalued dependencies, Chase's algorithm, the various forms

  normal, etc.).

• SQL Extensions: Data Manipulation Language (complex queries),

  data definition language, data control language

• Transactions

• Procedural language

• Trigger

• Indexing and Optimization

  From a practical standpoint, the database management system used in the courses will be Oracle. As part of the project, other systems such as MySQL or Postgres may be used.
