Description
The "Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the Cell 2" course complements the "Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the Cell 1" course, which will be held in parallel. In this course, students will be required to apply and deepen the theoretical knowledge acquired in "Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the Cell 1."
Objectives
Knowledge:
- Understand the general functioning of the cell cycle (mitosis and meiosis will be covered)
- Study of the consequences of cycle disruption (cancers, etc.)
Expertise:
- Apply knowledge of cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and microbiology to address issues in the field or analyze experimental data (including micrographs).
- Know how to use a photonic microscope
- Follow an experimental protocol
- Perform a simple cytological/histological preparation
- Perform specific staining to observe organelles under a light microscope
- Master the squash technique to observe dividing eukaryotic cells
- Represent a microscopic observation in the form of a labeled drawing, respecting the size proportions of the different cellular elements.
- Draw a scale on a drawing or micrograph
- Write a lab report (including objectives, protocol, captioned drawings, comments, and conclusion)
- Synthesize knowledge for use in writing
-Interpersonal skills:
- Work independently or as part of a team
- Write a report within a given time frame
- Comply with the health and safety rules of a practical training room
