General Chemistry in APP

Description*:

This course unit will provide biology students with access to the tools of general chemistry.

The following topics will be covered:

• the properties of atoms and molecules, to help understand the solubility of molecules, their structure in liquid or solid form, the stability of ionic forms, …
• energy exchanges in the life sciences, ranging from the amount of energy involved in chemical reactions to predicting the direction of those reactions.

The curriculum for this course unit will consist of:

• 2 tutoring sessions, 3 hours each (counted as fieldwork, since there is 1 instructor for every 10 students)
• 2 3-hour practical sessions (counted as tutorials because there is 1 instructor for every 40 students)
• 1 Review class (counted as a tutorial because there is 1 instructor for every 40 students)

To provide the basic tools of physical chemistry necessary for the life sciences.

Physics and Chemistry Track in 11th or 12th Grade
