Description
Origin and Evolution of the Planet;
Geological time scale and geochronology;
Past geographies, topographies, and environments;
Interactions between the biosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and geosphere,
Human evolution and anthropization;
Natural resources (water, energy, mineral resources) and anthropization
Objectives
The objective is to provide a comprehensive review and/or update of the prerequisites required of students with an interest in natural sciences (and biology) or those intending to study environmental sciences, through a slideshow on the evolution of planet Earth from its origins to the present day, with a focus on the complex interactions between the geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere.
A concrete and comprehensive vision of the evolution of the planet on which biological organisms and the human species live, evolve, and interact is expected.

Syllabus
- Brief description of the concepts covered in CM:
From the formation of the Earth and its evolution to the end of the Phanerozoic era, distribution of continental and oceanic masses in relation to erosion and sedimentation processes and significant biological and climatic events. Focus on regional geology during the Phanerozoic era.
- Brief description of tutorial sessions and number of hours associated with each session
2 TD = geological map and major lithological and geological features of the region.
- Brief description of practical sessions and number of hours associated with each session
TP1: Reconstruction of regional geological history based on documents and creation of a simplified geological map
TP2: Geological mapping 1 (introduction to geological cross-sections)
TP3: Geological mapping 2 (creation of a geological cross-section)
- Description of the topics/activities covered during your field trip(s) and details of the destinations/sites
Chronological survey and understanding of the terrain representing the different stages of regional geological formation during the Phanerozoic.
