Objectives

The aim of this cross-disciplinary course is to acquire integrative and transdisciplinary scientific knowledge (paleontology, phylogeny, evolutionary history, embryology, anatomical and physiological adaptations, bioacoustics, behaviors, ecology, threats and conservation, SHS (current and past interactions with humans)), using marine mammal biological models (cetaceans, pinnipeds, sirenians, polar bears, sea otters) as a common thread.

In particular, this unit enables students to mobilize key concepts acquired in various other disciplinary units (ecol/ evol/ BO), reinvesting them and transferring them to a specific taxonomic group.
