Physical activity has become a central component in contributing to successful and healthy aging. But not all activities are equal in terms of improving health and quality of life. Their programming requires solid scientific and methodological skills.
In the continuity of the Bachelor's degree " Adapted Physical Activity & Health " (APAS) opens today the Master 2 " Health Management through Physical Activity for the Elderly " (GESAPPA) of the specialty "Physical Activities for Health" (APPS) of the Master Grand Sud. It aims at training physical activity managers specialized in the accompaniment of autonomous or dependent populations advancing in age.
Know-how and skills
The training allows for the acquisition of the following skills:
- Mastery of gerontological concepts, autonomy and dependence, quality of life and successful aging,
- In-depth knowledge of the biological, psychological and social determinants of the trajectories of advancing age
- Identification of national, regional and local policies of support, education and care of older populations,
- Mastery of methodologies for evaluating populations and the effects of programs on health and quality of life,
- Expertise in the design, implementation, and coordination of educational and health education projects adapted to various older populations,
- Financial and human resource management of physical activity intervention projects

Program
Following a Master 1 entirely shared with the RAPA course, during this year of Master 2, students will complete a 350-hour internship and 310 hours of courses comprising 4 blocks:
1. Knowledge of the public.
- Gerontological approach: conceptual aspects, demographic and socio-economic aspects
- Biological, psychological and social approaches to autonomous and dependent persons: influence of age and influence of sensory-motor activities.
2.Knowledge of environments and frameworks.
- Regulatory and legal aspects governing the accompaniment and care of the elderly.
- Health, medico-social and social organizations for the elderly.
- National, regional and local policies in favor of the elderly.
3. Methodological knowledge
- Programming and intervention methodologies for physical activities and health education adapted to the elderly.
- Methodologies for evaluating the effects of aging and the bio-psycho-social effects of physical activities and health education.
4. Research methodology applied to gerontology and dissertation
