Physical activity has become a central component in contributing to successful and healthy aging. However, not all activities are equal in terms of improving health and quality of life. Their programming requires solid scientific and methodological skills.
Following on from the Bachelor's degreein Adapted Physical Activity and Health (APAS),the Master's 2 programin Health Management through Physical Activity for Older Adults (GESAPPA) is now open, as part of the Physical Activity for Health (APPS) specialization of the Master's program at the University of South France. It aims to train physical activity executives specializing in supporting autonomous or dependent populations as they age.
Know-how and skills
The training enables the acquisition of the following skills:
- Mastery of gerontological concepts, autonomy and dependence, quality of life and successful aging,
- In-depth knowledge of the biological, psychological, and social determinants of aging
- Identification of national, regional, and local policies for supporting, educating, and caring for older populations
- Mastery of methodologies for evaluating populations and the effects of programs on health and quality of life
- Expertise in the design, implementation, and coordination of educational and health education projects tailored to various elderly audiences,
- Financial and human resources management of physical activity intervention projects.

Program
Following a Master's 1 program entirely shared with the RAPA program, during this Master's 2 year, students will complete a 350-hour internship and 310 hours of classes comprising four blocks:
1. Knowledge of audiences.
• Gerontological approach: conceptual, demographic, and socioeconomic aspects
• Biological, psychological, and social approaches to independent and dependent individuals: influence of age and influence of sensory-motor activities.
2. Knowledge of environments and support structures.
• Regulatory and legal aspects governing the support and care of older adults.
• Health, medical-social, and social organizations for older adults.
• National, regional, and local policies in favor of seniors.
3. Methodological knowledge
• Methodologies for programming and intervention in physical activities and health education adapted to the elderly.
• Methodologies for evaluating the effects of aging and the bio-psycho-social effects of physical activities and health education.
4. Research methodology applied to gerontology and thesis
