Presentation
The Aging and Anti-Aging Strategies pathway combines the concepts and technologies of aging, senescence and ageing with R&D applications in the healthcare and dermocosmetics sectors.
Objectives
This Master's degree will provide students with a range of tools and knowledge enabling them to carry out expert missions capable of supporting, guiding or directing research and development activities in the health and/or dermocosmetics sector involving Aging, senescence, normal and pathological aging and geosciences.
Know-how and skills
- Develop a critical awareness of knowledge in the field of Aging ;
- Identify, select and critically analyze a variety of specialized resources to document a topic related to Aging, and synthesize these data for further use;
- Follow and apply legislative and regulatory developments in the field of health and cosmetic products;
- Develop new predictive, methodological, diagnostic and/or therapeutic strategies in R&D, applicable to issues relating to Aging and senescence;
- Meet emerging needs for functional screening in aging by mastering the use of genetic regulation networks, integrated models and their applications on latest-generation robotized platforms. Design experimental themes and methods - Design and adapt research work to Aging and Anti-Aging issues in dermocosmetics and aging - Interpret results and draw up an appropriate strategy;
- Design and implement batteries of biotechnology selection tests for molecules of therapeutic interest in aging pathologies linked to the molecular mechanisms of the cancer-senescence group;
- Master epigenetic diagnostic tools and biomarkers of aging to design, carry out and interpret in vitro studies ;
- Draw up nanosystems qualification protocols by means of studies defining the field of validity of processes and equipment; Evaluation of relevant nano-devices in terms of science, economics, patentability, and competitive intelligence.
- Design applications for nanotechnologies and biomaterials in the fields of Aging/senescence, aging and diagnosis by treatment - Analyze results and know how to extrapolate the potential therapeutic interest as a function of the dose and the physiological age of the patient;
- Provide data to adapt a molecular target to a development protocol in Aging dermocosmetics;
- Carry out comparative analyses integrating demographic, epidemiological and pharmaco-economic data to define sub-populations of seniors. Correlate genomic data with observations to derive relevant candidate senescence markers for applications in healthcare, industrial development and dermocosmetics.
- Assess and participate in the appraisal of technical and regulatory files.

Internship abroad | Possible |
- In Master 1, students complete a supervised research project (TER) that introduces them to the specifics of the course they have chosen. An internship of preferably 2 months (minimum one month, longer internship of 4/5 months possible depending on course) is carried out from April onwards. This Master 1 internship provides an introduction to research and development in the field of health products.
- In Master 2, students carry out a tutored project related to the professional world. An internship of at least 5 months is required, to enable integration into the professional world on the basis of a solid theoretical and methodological background.
Program
The program is divided into two years: a first year of Master 1 and a second year of Master 2, comprising six specialization courses. Master 1 offers a core curriculum and specific teaching units, enabling students to acquire fundamental knowledge of drugs and healthcare products. The specific teaching units prepare students for future specialization in Master 2.
