Presentation
The first year of the Master's program in General Private Law is designed to prepare students for the national examinations and competitive exams for the traditional legal professions. With this in mind, the course covers the core subjects of civil law and civil procedure (for the written exams), as well as fundamental rights and legal culture (for the oral exams).
The second year of the program is designed to broaden students' legal culture, while developing their critical thinking skills and stimulating their capacity for analysis.
Students are offered two options:
The first, which can be taken on a sandwich course, is designed for those who wish to enter the world of work at the end of the course.
The second, for those wishing to embark on an academic career, is an introduction to legal research.
Objectives
The Master in Fundamental Private Law has two objectives:
- To enable those who wish to do so to enter the professional world at the end of the course. The program has been designed with the various national examinations in mind (CRFPA, ENM, CFPN, etc.). In addition to teaching and training in traditional academic exercises, the program offers students the opportunity to undertake an internship in order to gain first-hand experience of legal and judicial practice and, in so doing, consolidate their professional project.
- To enable those who wish to embark on an academic career to be introduced to legal research. Students write a dissertation on a subject related to the themes covered by the diploma. This initial writing project may lead, for those with the necessary skills, to enrolment in a doctoral program with a view to writing a thesis in law.
Know-how and skills
Aptitude for reasoning and rapid synthesis of ideas.
Ability to formulate coherently and communicate (in writing or orally) the results of work accomplished.
Autonomy in individual work coupled with an aptitude for teamwork.
Aptitude for questioning, critical spirit.
Ease with NICTs.
Organization
Program
Teaching is spread over two semesters, from October to the end of March. The internship takes place in April and May. During the year, all students are required to write a dissertation, the subject of which is determined at the start of the course. It must be in line with the student's interests and coherent with his or her career plan. In April and May, students interested in a career in academia carry out a collective research project, with a view to publication. The year comes to a close in June with the defense of dissertations.
