Presentation
The teaching provided during the first year of the Master's degree in General Private Law is designed to prepare students for the national examinations and competitions leading to access to the traditional judicial and legal professions. In this perspective, the essential subjects of civil law and civil procedure (in the program of the written exams), as well as fundamental rights and legal culture (in the program of the oral exams) are considered.
The second year of the program aims to broaden the legal culture of the students while developing their critical spirit and stimulating their capacity for analysis.
Two tracks are offered to students:
The first one, which can be done in alternation, is intended for those who wish to enter the professional life at the end of the training.
The second allows those who wish to embark on an academic career to be introduced to legal research.
Objectives
The Master's degree in fundamental private law has two objectives:
- To enable those who wish to do so to enter professional life at the end of the program. The program has been designed with a view to the various national examinations and competitions (CRFPA, ENM, CFPN etc.). In addition to the teaching and training of the classic academic exercises, the program offers students the opportunity to do an internship in order to confront themselves with legal and judicial practice and, in so doing, to reinforce their professional project.
- To allow those who wish to embark on an academic career to be introduced to legal research. Students write a dissertation on a subject related to the themes covered in the diploma. This initial writing work may lead, for those whose qualities allow it, to enrollment in a doctoral program with the goal of completing a thesis in law.
Know-how and skills
Aptitude for reasoning and rapid synthesis of ideas.
Aptitude for coherent formulation and communication (written or oral) of the results of the work accomplished.

Program
The courses are spread over the two semesters between October and the end of March. The internship takes place in April and May. All students must write a thesis during the year, the subject of which is determined at the beginning of the course. The topic is related to the student's interests and is consistent with his or her professional project. In April and May, students interested in a career in academia carry out a collective research project which is intended to be published. The year ends in June with the defense of the dissertations.
