The Private Law major is designed for students who wish to acquire a thorough legal culture, develop their analytical skills, and compare their academic knowledge with practical experience.
In the first year, the major provides for the study of the essential subjects of private law (securities, collective procedures, matrimonial regimes, inheritance, etc.), which are now on the syllabus for most national examinations and competitions (CRFPA, ENM). In the second year, students choose to study certain topics in greater depth according to their interests.
The advantages of the training
Applications:
Objectives
The main objective of the program is to contribute to the immediate integration of students into the working world. The level of knowledge in the legal field, obtained at the end of this program, allows them to integrate the different professional sectors related to private law. The professions to which the Mention leads are the traditional ones in this field (teacher-researcher, lawyer, magistrate, notary, judicial representative, auctioneer, police officer, etc.). To achieve this, the program proposes:
- to prepare students for the various national examinations and competitions by ensuring that they have a perfect mastery of academic exercises.
- to prepare students for entry into professional life by offering them, thanks to numerous partnerships, the possibility of doing internships in companies and jurisdictions.
- to allow those who wish to do so to continue on to a doctorate with a view to embracing an academic career.
Know-how and skills
At the end of the training, the mention allows the acquisition of a double know-how:
- From an academic point of view, the student masters the different legal exercises in the program of the different national exams and competitions.
- From a practical point of view, the student is able to bring his expertise in the presence of a legal dispute, to write reports, to advise a person on the stakes of a project, to exercise his critical sense and to identify the dangers of an operation by developing a legal argumentation
Organization
Open in alternation
This course is open on a sandwich basis.

Master's degree in general private law
The teaching provided during the first year of the Master's degree in General Private Law is designed to prepare students for the national examinations and competitions leading to access to the traditional judicial and legal professions. In this perspective, the essential subjects of civil law and civil procedure (in the program of the written exams), as well as fundamental rights and legal culture (in the program of the oral exams) are considered.
The second year of the program aims to broaden the legal culture of the students while developing their critical spirit and stimulating their capacity for analysis.
Two tracks are offered to students:
The first one, which can be done in alternation, is intended for those who wish to enter the professional life at the end of the training.
The second allows those who wish to embark on an academic career to be introduced to legal research.
