The Private Law specialization is designed for students wishing to acquire a thorough understanding of the law, develop their analytical skills and put their academic knowledge to practical use.
In the 1st year, the specialization covers the core subjects of private law (securities, collective proceedings, matrimonial property regimes, inheritance, etc.), which are now part of the syllabus for most national examinations (CRFPA, ENM). In 2nd year, students can choose to study certain topics in greater depth, depending on their interests.

Objectives
The main aim of this specialization is to help students integrate immediately into working life. The level of legal knowledge obtained on completion of this course enables them to enter the various professional sectors associated with private law. The professions to which the specialization leads are the traditional ones in this field (teacher-researcher, lawyer, magistrate, notary, court-appointed agent, auctioneer, police officer, etc.). To achieve this, the specialization aims to:
- prepare students for the various national examinations and competitions, by ensuring that they have a perfect command of academic exercises.
- prepare students for entry into professional life by offering them, through numerous partnerships, the possibility of internships in companies and jurisdictions.
- enable those who so wish to pursue a doctorate with a view to embarking on an academic career.
Know-how and skills
By the end of the course, students will have acquired a two-fold know-how:
- From an academic point of view, students will have mastered the various legal exercises on the syllabus of the various national examinations and competitions.
- From a practical point of view, students will be able to contribute their expertise in the presence of legal disputes, write reports, advise a person on the stakes of a project, exercise their critical sense and identify the dangers of an operation by developing a legal argument.

Master of General Private Law
The first year of the Master's program in General Private Law is designed to prepare students for the national examinations and competitive exams for the traditional legal professions. With this in mind, the course covers the core subjects of civil law and civil procedure (for the written exams), as well as fundamental rights and legal culture (for the oral exams).
The second year of the program is designed to broaden students' legal culture, while developing their critical thinking skills and stimulating their capacity for analysis.
Students are offered two options:
The first, which can be taken on a sandwich course, is designed for those who wish to enter the world of work at the end of the course.
The second, for those wishing to embark on an academic career, is an introduction to legal research.
