Presentation
The CEI master's program is part of the Innovation Management major, along with three other programs: Innovative Project Management (MPI), e-Marketing, and Digital Transformation Management (MTD).
The aim of this program is to enable students to lead a professional project in the field of innovation with a major focus (one of the programs) while integrating a strong cross-disciplinary approach between these four areas through a combination of innovation, digital technology, marketing, and strategy (business model).
The Master's in Innovative Business Creation (CEI) includes specialized seminars, an assignment in an innovative company, and an internship.
The program alternates between academic training and experiential learning to address the management of innovative projects and the creation of innovative businesses, in partnership with professionals who support companies in
development through innovation.
Objectives
The CEI Master's program is designed for individuals who wish to:
► Lead a personal business creation project involving the implementation of new products or services
► Become a project or mission manager within an innovative company.
► Developing consulting or research activities in innovation and entrepreneurship.
The two CEI programs mainly focus on the goal of creating an innovative business, but also on consulting and support activities in innovation and entrepreneurship. Our vision of innovation management is primarily entrepreneurial, which explains the strong links between the CEI and MPI programs.
Know-how and skills
This unique positioning allows for a cross-disciplinary approach to all subjects. It emphasizes skills, particularly cross-disciplinary skills and soft skills, which have been the foundation of the Master's program's teaching approach since its inception in 2001 with the creation of the CEI Master's program: teamwork, autonomy, problem solving, communication, and critical thinking.
Courses and activities favor active and experiential learning. There are strong synergies between the different tracks within the program, allowing for a high degree of course sharing and bringing students from different tracks closer together. In particular, the Disrupt Campus Montpellier program is integrated into the four tracks of the program. This is an innovative educational program designed to support the digital transformation of businesses: https://digitalstudentchallenge.umontpellier.fr
Finally, the development of a truly open mind among students is encouraged by innovative and entrepreneurial approaches to management (design thinking, lean startup, agile method, Lego Serious Play, Disrupt Campus Montpellier program, etc.).

Admission
Admission requirements
Recruitment for the CEI program favors students who have plans to start an innovative business. Previous academic background is not a specific factor in recruitment, even though the three other programs in the major favor dual skills, i.e., students who did not study economics or management (e.g., science or technology, engineering, sports, law, psychology, etc.). The candidate's motivation and sensitivity to innovation, entrepreneurial skills, and innovative abilities are essential factors in the assessment process. Work-study programs are preferred (apprenticeships or professional contracts): they are considered an integral part of the professional project, which is a factor in the recruitment assessment.
The master's program is designed to enable students to develop a professional project through work-study programs, with periods of study alternating with periods in a company. Students can also work on their business creation project during work-study periods, under the PEPITE status.
It is also possible to pursue a doctorate as part of a dual degree with the REM Research and Management Studies Master's program.
