Presentation
The aim of this course is to train experimentalists/behaviorists capable of managing an experimental project from conception to practical implementation, whether in the laboratory or in the field.
Students will be involved in experimental projects and will be invited to carry out their own projects. Training is both theoretical and practical.
Objectives
The main aim of the course is to train experts in the conduct of laboratory and field surveys and experiments in the human and social sciences, by training students in the various techniques of data collection, in particular laboratory and lab-in-the-field experimental data.
Know-how and skills
Students learn how to design and program experiments, carry out experiments and analyze data to put them into perspective with existing knowledge.
Particular attention is paid to public decision-making. Students will be able to test the effectiveness of various public policy instruments and measures in laboratory or field experiments, analyze the experimental data and propose a behavioral model to understand and extrapolate the effects of these policies (via questions of decision-making, mental and social representations, etc.). Indeed, mastering and reinforcing the effectiveness of public policies presupposes the ability to carry out rigorous and precise evaluation work at every stage of the decision-making process and public action, as well as understanding the interaction of these policies with the behavior and decisions of individuals and/or groups of individuals.
Organization
Knowledge control
The combination of these two fields requires an intensive refresher course at the start of M1, aimed at economists (psychology courses) and psychologists (economics courses). The courses are then shared mainly by teacher-researchers from UM's UFR d'Economie and UPVM's UFR des sciences du sujet et de la société3. The involvement of both universities and both disciplines justifies a specific organization.
