Overview
The BIOTIN track within the Biology and Health program is an accredited master’s program offered by the Universities of Montpellier and Nîmes and the Institut Mines-Télécom. It also has partnership agreements with Polytech, Kedge Business School in Marseille, and the French Blood Establishment (Etablissement Français du Sang), and collaborates with Inserm-transfert. It is accredited by the Eurobiomed competitiveness cluster, which coordinates academic and industrial health-related activities in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) and Occitanie regions—including, in addition to research organizations and universities, approximately 300 biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.
Objectives
The goal is to train entrepreneurial and adaptable general engineers in the biotechnology and healthcare field by ensuring that students are fully equipped to pursue careers in healthcare, industry, or academia. The multidisciplinary nature of the master’s program allows students to focus on therapeutic, diagnostic, medical device, or bioproduction fields. All related activities are accessible: research, development, regulatory affairs, and clinical trials.
Expertise and Skills
- Strong knowledge in all areas of modern biology and biotechnology (omics, genomics, immunology and immunotherapies, bioinformatics, AI, biomarkers, gene and cell therapy, personalized medicine, diagnostic innovations, clinical biology, clinical trials, and bioproduction).
- English with TOEIC
- 11 months of internships (5 months during the first year of the master's program and 6 months during the second year)
- Industry knowledge: innovation, patents, project management, and entrepreneurship (including innovation camps, startup incubators, and participation in conferences).
International Dimension
The class of 2020–21 is diverse, comprising students from seven different countries; outside of the pandemic, about one-third of the internships are completed abroad.
