Description

This course focuses on the management of by-products from wastewater treatment systems, organic by-products from economic activities (e.g. winegrowing) with high recovery potential, and gaseous by-products from industrial systems. In the case of wastewater treatment plant sludge, the aim is to integrate its management into the broader issue of the treatment (or production) chain, in order to reduce its source at source or control its nature. The various recovery methods are then presented. Sizing of sludge treatment processes is also covered. The course outline is as follows:

  1. Characterization of water treatment by-products
  2. WWTP sludge treatment processes
  3. Management and organic recovery of winegrowing by-products
  4. Biogas valorization
  5. Management and treatment of gaseous effluents
