Description

This course focuses on the management of by-products from wastewater treatment systems, organic by-products with a high recovery potential from economic activities (e.g. viticulture) or gaseous by-products produced by industrial systems. For wastewater treatment plant sludge, it is a question of integrating its management into the broader issue of the treatment (or production) chain in order to reduce its source at the base or control its nature. The different ways of recovery are then presented. The sizing of sludge treatment processes is discussed. The course outline is as follows:

  1. Characterization of water treatment by-products
  2. Treatment methods for WWTP sludge
  3. Management and organic valorisation of winegrowing by-products
  4. Biogas valorization
  5. Management and treatment of gaseous effluents
