Description
The areas covered are:
- Sources and consequences of chemical pollution of natural waters.
- Chemical criteria for assessing pollutants: COD, BOD, ammonia nitrogen, Kjedahl nitrogen, total phosphorus....
- Chemical treatments (purification by chemical oxidation, coagulation, flocculation) and physico-chemical treatments (membranes, activated carbons...),
- Specific treatments: ion exchange resins, solvent extraction, electrochemical methods.

To lead students to be self-sufficient in areas and measurements concerning water chemistry.

- Solution chemistry: acid-base, redox, complexation and precipitation equilibria in aqueous solutions
- Basic concepts in analytical chemistry

Targeted competencies
- Mobilize fundamental concepts and technologies in analytical chemistry, chemical thermodynamics, solution chemistry, physical chemistry of materials and chemical and physical-chemical techniques of water purification to address a problem in the field of water chemistry or analyze a research or presentation document on water chemistry.
