Description
This course unit enables students to acquire skills in computer-aided design and mechanism simulation.
With regard to CAD, the course will cover part mode (3D design of a mechanical part), assembly mode (design of a mechanism), and drafting of parts or assembly drawings.
As part of the simulation, we will use CMAO software to examine the kinematic and dynamic behavior of mechanisms made up of rigid solids.
Objectives
Using Solidworks software and its Solidworks Motion add-on:
- Using basic functions for 3D modeling of a part;
- Create an assembly using CREO Parametric software;
- Create a layout;
- Use advanced features to create complex 3D parts and assemblies;
- Define connections between the different parts of a mechanism;
- Defines elastic and/or viscous connections;
- Define external loads on a mechanism;
- Define interferences and/or contacts between parts of a mechanism;
- Activate the mechanism with a servo motor and launch a dynamic study;
Extract information such as positions, speeds, and forces in a connection from the study.
Teaching hours
