Description
Origin and Evolution of the Planet;
Geological Time Scale and Geochronology;
Past geographies, topographies, and environments;
Interactions Between the Biosphere, Hydrosphere, Atmosphere, and Geosphere,
Human Evolution and Anthropization;
Natural Resources (Water, Energy, Mineral Resources) and Human Impact
Objectives
The goal is to provide a comprehensive review and/or refresher on the prerequisites required of students majoring in natural sciences (and biology) or pursuing a career in environmental sciences through a presentation on the evolution of Planet Earth from its origins to the present day, with a focus on the complex interactions between the geosphere, the hydrosphere, the atmosphere, and the biosphere.
We expect a concrete and comprehensive overview of the evolution of the planet on which biological organisms and humankind live, evolve, and interact.

Course Outline
- Brief description of the concepts covered in fourth grade:
From the formation of the Earth and its evolution through the end of the Phanerozoic, the distribution of continental and oceanic masses in relation to erosion and sedimentation processes, as well as significant biological and climatic events. A closer look at regional geology during the Phanerozoic.
- Summary description of the tutorial sessions and the number of hours associated with each session
2 TD = geological map and major lithological and geological units of the region.
- Brief descriptions of the lab sessions and the number of hours associated with each session
Assignment 1: Reconstructing the regional geological history based on source materials and creating a simplified geological map
TP2: Geological Mapping 1 (Introduction to Geological Cross-Sections)
Practicum 3: Geological Mapping 2 (Creating a Geological Cross-Section)
- Description of the topics/hands-on activities covered during your field trip(s) and details on the destinations/sites
A chronological overview and understanding of the geological features representing the various stages of regional geological development during the Phanerozoic.
