Description
The purpose of this Solid Mechanics course is to study articulated systems composed of rigid solids by examining their motions and equilibrium positions. Topics covered include velocity fields in solids, the classification of joints, and internal forces. Graphical methods of kinematics and statics are also used.
Objectives
- Be able to determine the kinematic fields for a rigid body
- Use the concepts of stress tensor, joint tensor, and kinematic tensor.
- Be able to apply the Fundamental Principle of Statics to simple or multi-body systems.
- Use graphical solution methods in kinematics and statics.
