Presentation
In September 2014, the University of Montpellier opened a Master 2 entitled "Expertise in Gerontology" - IDEFI-TIL (Initiative of Excellence in Innovative Training -Trans Innov Longevity) .
This Master's degree is taught 80% in e-learning (recorded courses accessible via a platform) and 20% in class . Each student benefits from individual tutoring by a practicing professional in the sector with whom the student is in close contact throughout the year. E-learning allows practicing professionals and people who are geographically distant from the university to benefit from quality university education.
This master is co-accredited with Sorbonne University, which offers the following 8 teaching units:
Standardized gerontological assessment
Training of trainers/tutors in gerontology
Nutrition of the elderly and hygiene
Telehealth
Therapeutic Education
Training in the use of ICT
Psychology and communication in old age
The Trans-Innov-Longévité (TIL) project is a transdisciplinary inter-university system of excellence applied to the professions of longevity and autonomy. It is one of the winning projects of the IDEFI action of the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) Investissement d'Avenir program. It models an innovative system of inter-university cross-disciplinary training adapted to both initial training and lifelong learning. It multiplies a system of training of excellence based on the potential of national and international university networks.
TIL promotes access for new audiences to new university degree programs, offering a wide variety of hybrid educational models and paths, built on multi- and trans-disciplinary skills, around a structured but flexible educational engineering. To do this, it builds a global offer, combining face-to-face and distance learning courses taught by university professors who direct the master's programs and supervise and empower professionals from multidisciplinary fields, who act as tutors. TIL is therefore based on a new pedagogical engineering strategy combining a database of digital teaching resources produced by academics and by tutor-trainers.
TIL is a master's level university degree preparing students for jobs with gerontological responsibilities in the health and medical-social sector, as well as for many other jobs at the interface with gerontology. TIL is designed for the acquisition of multiple dual skills.
The Master 2 Expertise in Gerontology offers 3 courses of study for students to choose from:
- Research and training in gerontology course
- Housing and space planning for the elderly course
- Course Management and coordination of services and structures
The TIL Master's curriculum is composed of about twenty modules, some of which are compulsory and others adapted to the different professional educational paths offered. Each course includes 10 modules of 30 hours each. These modules cover all the major subjects of gerontology and longevity in order to meet the diversity of the professions concerned and the expectations of the students. This great diversity of modules allows the training courses to be personalized according to the students' knowledge, expectations and professional project. The Master IDEFI-TIL is an inter-university program and offers multiple and transversal courses adapted to heterogeneous audiences.
The curriculum of each student will be defined in consultation with the head of the Master's program in order to identify the modules necessary for the realization of his/her professional project.
