Objectives
The program is aimed at candidates for the external competitive examination for senior educational advisor (CPE). It prepares students for the written exams by providing instruction in the humanities and social sciences taught by faculty members (history, philosophy and sociology of education, adolescent psychology, public policy, pedagogy) and training in essay writing and summary writing. Courses relating to the institutional context (knowledge of the profession, organization and functioning of the education system, ethical and legal issues) are mainly taught by professionals from the French National Education System. The training also prepares candidates for the oral exams through intensive training in interviews and professional role-playing exercises. Finally, the training provides an introduction to research.
Know-how and skills
The training is based on the professional skills framework for teaching and education professions, and more specifically on the specific skills required of CPEs (decree of July 1, 2013). Students develop skills in analyzing professional situations in school life, supporting students, project engineering, conducting interviews, and team management. The training program enables students to acquire a mastery of disciplinary knowledge related to education and to develop a reflective approach to research.
Organization
Program
The program provides instruction in the humanities and social sciences, training for the written and oral exams of the competitive examination (see new exams for 2022), support for the professionalization process, in particular through professional simulations and their evaluation, an introduction to research, and support for the production of a thesis applied to the field of education. The program strives to meet the threefold requirement of professionalization, high-level training through the articulation of academic knowledge, research, and the development of professionalism, and preparation for the CPE competitive examination.
Classes are concentrated over three days per week. The program includes an observation and supervised internship in M1, and work-study internships or supervised internships in M2.
