Presentation

The program incorporates the latest knowledge from scientific literature thanks to the involvement of faculty members who are active researchers in their fields of specialization. It maintains close ties with the world of research and public administration through collaborations with Montpellier-SupAgro and CIHEAMM-IAM-M, which include project supervision and internships. The EcoDEVA program offers students the opportunity to enrich their economic thinking by analyzing the negative effects of economic activity on the environment (air and water pollution, global warming, biodiversity loss) and by studying the exploitation and preservation of renewable natural resources (fish stocks, groundwater, wildlife) and non-renewable resources (fossil fuels, minerals). These concerns are at the forefront of current affairs. In all sectors of the economy, businesses and government agencies are subject to increasingly stringent environmental regulations. They are faced with new tax measures that encourage them to adopt less polluting production techniques, or else pay a price for the damage they cause to the air, water, and wildlife. Agriculture, fishing, forestry, energy, and transportation are undergoing profound changes at the European level. In these circumstances, the EcoDEVA program provides students with a solid foundation to take on responsibilities and bring added value to employers. >> Learn more

Objectives

The EcoDEVA program is designed for students who wish to acquire training focused primarily on economic analysis, but also including courses in management and economic sociology. The program is based on the transmission of theoretical and methodological knowledge applied to issues of agricultural and agri-food development, food, and natural resource and environmental management, both in developed countries and in the economies of developing countries. The program enables students to acquire analytical and research skills at the interface between agricultural development, environmental preservation, and agri-food production. It provides knowledge on how markets work and how they are regulated in terms of environmental protection and natural resource preservation.
Economists with this degree are able to take on management responsibilities in companies, public bodies, and associations operating in the environmental, agricultural, and agri-food sectors. They are proficient in statistical and IT tools used in economics, as well as in data modeling and processing. >> Find out more
