Description
The internship corresponds to a temporary period of work experience in a professional environment
during which the student acquires professional skills and applies the
acquired during their training with a view to obtaining a diploma or certification and promoting their
professional integration. The intern is assigned one or more tasks in line with the educational project
defined by their educational institution and approved by the host organization
.
Objectives
The internship aims to introduce students to a professional environment through active participation.
For students in the Master's program in Science Education, this may include scientific and technical mediation associations (
), mediation services in scientific and technical institutions such as museums or universities (
), companies that produce educational and teaching training or resources (
), science and society relations or training services in local communities (
), training or educational engineering services in universities or companies (
), research laboratories, IRES or IREM groups, etc.
The internship lasts a minimum of 22 days (154 hours) and must be covered by an internship agreement (
), meaning that the location, tasks, and supervisor must be approved by the EU representatives (
).
The internship agreement stipulates that a supervisor must oversee the intern at the host organization. The
internship is unpaid unless it lasts longer than two months. The internship can be completed
in a single block or spread out over the year.
The internship may involve the completion of a task in agreement with the host organization.
The duration of this task must be compatible with the length of the internship; the writing of the internship report
is an integral part of the total internship time (see specific framework document
). Depending on the projects, the task may be oriented towards research or
the analysis of professional elements.
The internship may also be an opportunity to collect empirical data for the TER, whether
through surveys or for the creation of a corpus.
Knowledge assessment
The EU is worth 3 ECTS credits and is assessed 100% in the final exam, which includes:
- an internship report submitted to the supervising teacher at the end of the internship;
- A 30-minute oral defense of the internship report: 15 minutes for the presentation and 15 minutes for questions. The date is to be determined by the supervising instructor. The presence of the internship supervisor, while not mandatory, is desirable.
- consideration of the internship evaluation by the internship supervisor.
Additional information
Documents to be completed
Before the internship begins, the host organization discusses with the intern and proposes a draft outline of the tasks, the number of hours and the period considered for each of them, followed by additional comments or not. This document is discussed with the EU manager,
in conjunction with the reference teacher, other year managers and/or TER managers (if a link with the internship
is established).- Once an agreement has been reached in advance, an internship agreement is drawn up between the intern,
the supervising teacher, and the internship supervisor, which sets out the terms of the partnership. The agreement is to be drawn up at
via the Montpellier ENT (digital workspace) using the PStage tab. The supervising teacher for Montpellier is
Nicolas Saby.
At the end of the internship, an evaluation form is completed by the internship supervisor, which must be submitted to the reference supervisor—see evaluation form below.
Responsibilities of internship supervisors and reference teachers
The role of the internship supervisor is to:
determine the specifications by setting objectives and tasks, in consultation with the reference teacher and, if necessary, other members of the teaching team;- ensure the intern's integration into the work team;
- monitor and adjust the content of assignments based on the difficulties encountered;
- evaluate the intern's work at the end of the period in consultation with the supervising teacher.
The advisor is a member of the DDS master's program teaching team. Their role is to:
- Ensure that the intern completes the various stages of the internship, including research, implementation
, and evaluation of the internship and internship report.
assist and advise the intern in the context of their internship and, more broadly, their professional development project;- Ensure the quality of the internship, in accordance with the specifications.
