Description

An internship is a temporary period of practical training in a professional setting
during which the student acquires professional skills and applies the
knowledge gained through their education in order to earn a degree or certification and to facilitate their
entry into the workforce. The intern is assigned one or more tasks that align with the
educational plan defined by their educational institution and approved by the
host organization.

Objectives

The internship is designed to introduce students to a professional environment through active participation.
For students in the Master’s program in Science Education, this may include associations dedicated to science outreach and technical
, outreach departments within scientific and technical institutions such as
museums or universities, companies that produce training programs or educational and didactic
resources, science-society relations or training departments within
local governments, training or instructional design departments at universities or
companies, research laboratories, IRES or IREM groups, etc.

The internship lasts a minimum of 22 days (or 154 hours) and must be covered by an internship
agreement; that is, the location, responsibilities, and supervisor of the internship must be approved by the EU advisor(s)
.
The internship agreement stipulates that a supervisor must mentor the intern at the host organization. The
internship is unpaid unless it lasts longer than two months. The internship may be completed
as a single block or in consecutive periods throughout the year.
The internship may involve the completion of a specific task in agreement with the host organization.
The duration of this task must be consistent with the internship period; the writing of the
internship report is an integral part of the total internship time (see the specific framework document
). Depending on the projects, the task may focus on research or on
the analysis of professional elements.
The internship may also provide an opportunity to collect empirical data for the TER, whether
through a survey or by compiling a corpus.

  • A 30-minute oral defense of the internship report: 15 minutes for the presentation and 15 minutes for questions. The date will be determined by the supervising instructor. While the presence of the internship mentor is not required, it is encouraged.
  • the inclusion of the internship supervisor's evaluation of the internship.

Additional Information

Documents to Fill Out

  • Before the internship begins, the host organization meets with the intern and provides a
outline of the tasks, the number of hours, and the timeframe for each task, followed
by additional comments as needed. This document is discussed with the program director,
in consultation with the faculty advisor, other year coordinators, and/or TER coordinators (if a connection to the
    internship is established).
  • Once an agreement has been reached in advance, an internship agreement is drawn up between the intern,
the faculty advisor, and the internship supervisor, establishing the framework for the partnership. The agreement must be
completed via the Montpellier digital campus (ENT) under the “PStage” tab. The faculty advisor for Montpellier is
    Nicolas Saby.
  • At the end of the internship, an evaluation form is completed by the internship supervisor, who must
submit it to the designated advisor—see the evaluation form below.M
