Objectives

General objectives:

Book and field determination: understand the difficulties and constraints of certain taxonomic groups and the methods used to identify flora.

Developing a personal approach to identification

 

The course takes the form of 3 sequences. Each sequence is open to continuing education. The order of the sequences may be modified according to the availability of competent external speakers on the taxonomic groups.

 

Sequence 1: Main characteristics of plants and other groups

Identification principles and techniques (collections, books, software)

Diversity and main groups (green lineage vs. fungi)

Focus on fungi, lichens, freshwater algae (including characeae), bryophytes (collections, books, software)

Pteridophytes and Gymnosperms

 

3 sessions of 3 hours, followed by personal work (Pl@ntGame, Pl @ ntNet @)

 

Sequence 2: Angiosperms

Introduction to Flore-Num software

Vegetative morphology and floral organs, fruits and seeds

2 sessions of 3 hours, followed by personal work on a card describing the characteristics of a few families.

Sequence 3 Vascular plant identification

Family card presentation

Introducing the 10 main families

2 sessions of 3 hours
