Presentation
In France, access to studies in the healthcare professions - doctor, dental surgeon, midwife and pharmacist - is by competitive examination (MMOP for Médecine Maïeutique Odontologie Pharmacie). Since the 2020 reform, the Licence Accès Santé (Health Access License) has enabled students to submit two applications for the MMOP examination between the first and third years of their Licence.
The Faculty of Economics offers a Bachelor's degree in Health and Economics.
LAS Economics students complete the first year of the Bachelor's degree in Economics at the Faculty of Economics. The program is made up of part of the classic L1 Economics curriculum (48 ECTS) and a Health Minor (12 ECTS).
Health minor courses are identical for all LAS (LAS Droit, Psychology, SVT, Chemistry...) and are offered by the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Montpellier. Teaching in the Health Minor (lectures and tutorials) is entirely distance learning.
MMOP competition eligibility:
The MMOP competition is a selective one, in which academic excellence takes precedence. As a result, the conditions to be met in order to apply for the MMOP competition are more restrictive than the conditions for validation of the first year of the LAS Economics bachelor's degree.
To apply for the MMOP competition during the first year of LAS, you must :
- Validate the 60 ECTS at the end of the first session of L1 exams.
- Pass each of the 3 courses in the Health Minor with at least a 10/20 average: there is no possibility of offsetting grades obtained in other courses.
During the LAS Bachelor's degree, between the first and third years, students can submit 2 applications for the MMOP competitive entrance exam, bearing in mind that 60 additional ECTS must be accumulated between the 2 applications (it is not possible to apply when repeating a year).

Licences permettant un Accès aux filières de Santé (LAS ) are first-, second- or third-year degree courses enabling students to apply to enter the second year of study in medicine, midwifery, dentistry or pharmacy (MMOP). These courses are specified for each partner university.

Further studies
Further studies in LAS Economics :
Students who obtain the 60 ECTS in LAS 1 (in the first or second session and with compensation of marks between courses) validate their first year and are admitted to LAS 2. In this case, students follow a course structure that is strictly identical to that of the classic Licence 2 Économie.
Courses from the Health Minor (where applicable, if they have not been obtained with an average of 10/20 each) are added to the 60 ECTS of the LAS 2 Economics. The special feature of the LAS Economics stream compared with the standard Economics degree is that it opens up the possibility of taking the MMOP competitive entrance examination, which is not possible in the standard Economics degree.
Students who fail to obtain the 60 ECTS in LAS 1 must repeat the year. In this case, students follow a course structure that is strictly identical to that of the traditional Licence 1 économie. It is not possible to take the Health Minor while repeating LAS 1, nor to apply for the MMOP competitive entrance examination. Students who obtain their 180 ECTS from the Licence LAS and who have not been admitted to the MMOP competitive entrance examination may apply for any of the Master's courses open to a conventional Economics Licence.
