Presentation
In France, access to studies in the health professions: doctor, dental surgeon, midwife and pharmacist is through a competitive examination (MMOP for Medicine, Dentistry, Odontology and Pharmacy). Since the reform of 2020, the Licence Accès Santé (Health Access Licence) allows students to submit two applications to the MMOP competition between the first and third years of the Licence.
The Faculty of Economics offers a Licence Accès Santé Économie
Students in the LAS Economics program complete the first year of the Economics License in the Faculty of Economics. The program consists of a part of the classical L1 Economics courses (48 ECTS) and a Health Minor (12 ECTS).
The teaching of the Health Minor is identical for all LAS (LAS Law, Psychology, SVT, Chemistry...) and is offered by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Montpellier. The teaching of the health minor (lectures and tutorials) is done only through distance learning.
MMOP Competition Eligibility Requirement:
The MMOP competition is a selective competition in which excellence of academic results is the most important. Thus, the conditions to be met in order to apply for the MMOP competition are more restrictive than the conditions for validation of the first year of the LAS Economics degree.
In order to apply for the MMOP competition during the first year of LAS, you must:
- Validate the 60 ECTS at the end of the first session of L1 exams.
- Obtain each of the 3 courses of the Health Minor with at least a 10/20 average: there is no compensation possible with the grades obtained in the other courses.
During the Licence LAS, between the first year and the third year, students have the possibility to apply twice for the MMOP exam; knowing that 60 additional ECTS must be accumulated between the two applications (it is not possible to apply when repeating a year).

Licences permettant un Accès aux filières de Santé (LAS ) are first-, second- or third-year degree courses enabling students to apply to enter the second year of study in medicine, midwifery, dentistry or pharmacy (MMOP). These courses are specified for each partner university.

Continuation of studies in LAS Economics :
Students who obtain the 60 ECTS in LAS 1 (in the first or second session and with compensation of marks between courses) validate their first year and are admitted to LAS 2. In this case, students follow a course schedule that is strictly identical to the classic Licence 2 Economie.
The courses of the Health Minor (if applicable if they were not obtained with an average of 10/20 each) are added to the 60 ECTS of the LAS 2 Economics. The particularity of the LAS Economics program compared to the classic Economics License is that it offers the possibility of taking the MMOP competitive examination, which is not possible in the classic Economics License.
Students who do not obtain the 60 ECTS in LAS 1 repeat the year. In this case, the students follow a course schedule that is strictly identical to the classic Licence 1 économie. It is not possible to follow the courses of the Health Minor while repeating the LAS 1 or to apply for the MMOP exam. Students who obtain their 180 ECTS from the LAS License and who have not been admitted to the MMOP competitive exam can apply for all the Master's courses open to a classical Economics License.
